Culture Minister: National cultural event to be organized on October 23rd

Idleb, SANA – Culture Minister Issam Khalil said that as part of the Ministry’s plans for expanding its activities, it will organize a national even on October 23rd under the title “Syrian Culture Day.”

In a meeting with local social figures and officials in Idleb province on Friday, Khalil said that the Ministry’s plans will focus on children’s culture, raising new generations, and visual knowledge.

The Minister also attended cultural and social activities organized by the Culture Directorate and the Education Directorate at the Cultural Center in Idleb city, including performance by the Ebla troupe for folk arts, a play titled “Land of the Sun,” poetry recital, and musical performances.

Earlier, Khalil said the ministry has the legal right to recover any ancient artifact that has been stolen or smuggled outside Syria.

The minister was speaking to journalists in Idleb National Museum which he visited Friday.

“The ministry’s right to recover any ancient artifact that has been stolen or smuggled outside Syria is enshrined in the relevant international accords… these artifacts are the property of the Syrian people,” he said.

He pointed to the success of the Syrian experience in preserving ancient heritage which, he said, “has won the acclaim of UNESCO, thanks to the efforts of national cadres and technical experts who rushed to save their heritage from theft and vandalism.”

The Minister also visited a makeshift center sheltering displaced citizens in Idleb city and inspected the services offered to them.
