Cabinet allocates SYP 1 billion to support family agriculture program

Damascus, SANA – During its weekly session chaired by Prime Minister Imad Khamis, the Cabinet tasked the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform and the central follow-up committees in the provinces to expand the program of family agriculture and provide what is needed to expand it by allocating SYP one billion to implement a second phase by the beginning of the next winter season.

The Cabinet also instructed the Ministry of Local Administration and Environment to follow up the improvement of the basic services in the provinces in the fields of health, water, electricity, communications, and fuel.

The Cabinet discussed a draft law amending law no. 13 of 1990 concerning the Artists Guild and approved it. The draft law addresses shortcomings related to the specific qualifications needed for membership in the Guild as well as its powers and its councils.

The Council instructed the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank to find a suitable formula for collecting stamp duty from private banks and microfinance companies.
