Putin grants martyred RT correspondent Khalid al-Khatib medal of courage

Moscow, SANA- Russian President Vladimir Putin issued a decree granting the former RT correspondent, Khalid al-khatib, who was martyred in Homs countryside, the medal of courage.

Al-Khatib, a former RT correspondent, was killed on July, 2017 by ISIS (Daesh) terrorists’ shells while covering the Syrian Arab Army’s operations in Homs eastern countryside. The driver and the cameraman were also injured.

The medal was given in appreciation of his personal bravery while performing his professional duty.
The driver Mohammed Waheed Hamhum, and the cameraman Moutiz Yaqoub were also given the medal of courage.

RT has decided to dedicate an annual journalism prize named after martyr Khaled al-Khatib to honor his legacy.
