Rouhani welcomes holding summit with Russian and Turkish counterparts to discuss crisis in Syria 

Tehran, SANA – Iranian President, Hassan Rouhani, stressed the need for boosting tripartite cooperation between Iran, Turkey and Russia to solve crises in the region, particularly in Syria.

President Rouhani, in A phone call with his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, on Thursday, welcomed an upcoming meeting in Istanbul between the three countries’ presidents on the Syrian  crisis.

He warned of regional threats to the interests of both Iran and Turkey and other Islamic countries, calling for boosting bilateral ties in all sectors.

For his part, Erdogan congratulated President Rouhani and the Iranian people over the anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution, calling for enhancing Iranian-Turkish relations in all areas of mutual interest.

Earlier, the Kremlin announced that Russian President, Vladimir Putin, and his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, agreed to hold a new summit in Istanbul, similar to its predecessor in Sochi held last November, bringing together the presidents of the guarantor states Russia, Iran and Turkey.
