“Syria’s Manger Has Room for Everyone” opened at Ibrahim al-Khalil Convent

Damascus, SANA – A Christmas festivity titled “Syria’s Manger Has Room for Everyone” was inaugurated at the monastery of Ibrahim al-Khalil Convent in Damascus, organized by Sabro volunteer team of the Syriac Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch and All East.

Patriarchal Vicar of the Patriarchal Archdiocese of Damascus Matta al-Khoury said that by holding this event, Sabro volunteer team sought to liken the current situation in Syria to the Christmas manger, which provided a sanctuary for Jesus Christ and his mother the Virgin Mary, just like Syria has room for all its children.

Al-Khoury pointed out that volunteers held this festivity on the occasion of holidays for children from Iraq, Somalia, and Sudan who live in special refugees’ accommodation centers in Syria, so that they can experience the joy of the holidays with Syria’s children.

The festivity lasts for two days in which about 100 children ages 5 to 14 will play games, engage in competitions, and watch plays inspired by Christmas.
