Hundreds more food and medical packages distributed in Yarmouk Camp

Damascus, SANA – 425 food packages and 240 medical parcels were distributed Tuesday to the residents of Yarmouk Camp, a neighborhood in southern Damascus, who have been besieged by terrorist groups since late 2012.

The aid delivery in Yarmouk Camp, which houses Palestinian refugees and Syrian citizens, has been carried out by the General Administration for Palestine Arab Refugees (GAPAR) and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), provided full support by the Syrian government which has facilitated and participated in the efforts to make the process succeed.

The Charity Commission for the Relief of the Palestinian People helped in the distributing of the humanitarian supplies on Tuesday.

Earlier, the GAPAR distributed 425 food packages in Yarmouk Camp, bringing the total number of delivered aid since January 30 to 46,560 food packages and 6,949 others containing medical supplies, according to the GAPAR Director Ali Mustafa.

Mustafa pointed out that UNRWA’s medical center in the neighborhood continues to provide health services to the residents who need treatment.

The inhabitants of Yarmouk Camp are still trapped by armed terrorist groups who have repeatedly hampered the initiatives and efforts which were agreed on to put an end to the crisis inside the neighborhood and provide access to humanitarian assistance.
