Lawyer al-Shaher assassinated by terrorists after days in captivity

Terrorists from the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) assassinated on Saturday lawyer Dawood Suleiman al-Shaher, who was member of the general commission of the Bar Association branch in Deir Ezzor, after several days in captivity.

A source in the province told SANA that al-Shaher was assassinated several days after terrorists from ISIS abducted him while he was on his way from Deir Ezzor to Damascus in al-Shoula area on the road between the two cities.

Al-Shaher worked as director of social affairs and labor in Deir Ezzor.

The Bar Association branch in Deir Ezzor issued a statement condemning the assassination which he described as “a geinous crime that no law or religion would condone.”

“Appalled as they are by the crime that adds to an outrageous track record of atrocities committed against the Syrian people, the Syrian lawyers will remain undaunted by such crimes, nor will they shy away from assuming their responsibilities in defending the Syrian people against terrorism and takfiri though,” added the statement.
