Zakharova: The 6th Astana meeting on Syria to be held in second half of September

Moscow, SANA – Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova announced that the sixth round of the Astana meeting on the crisis in Syria will be held in the second half of September.

In a press conference on Thursday, Zakharova said that Russia calls upon the regional and international partners to support efforts to combat terrorists in Syria and to take further efforts in the search for consensual solutions to the crisis before the holding of Astana meeting.

On another note, Zakharova renewed its criticism of Washington’s hypocrisy and its claims that the Syrian government used chemical weapons in an attack four years ago and renewed it accusation in the chemical attack of Khan Shaikoun on 4th of April 2017 without any evidence.

The US State Department “once again named the Syrian authorities as those guilty of a chemical attack four years ago,” Zakharova said, adding that the US hasn’t presented any proof.
