Syrian Olympic football team draws 1-1 with its Iraqi counterpart

Baghdad, SANA – The Syrian Olympic football team drew 1-1 with its Iraqi counterpart in a friendly match held on Thursday in Karbala city within the 2018 AFC U-23 Championship qualification in China.

Football player Maamoun Naji scored the Syrian team’s goal from a counterattack in the 29th minute while Iraq’s goal was scored by Ayman Hussein in the 43rd minute.

The Syrian team will leave to Bahrain to play two friendly matches with its Bahraini counterpart on July 9 and 12.

It comes in the third group along with Turkmenistan, India and Qatar which hosts the qualifications as of July 19th.
