Syrian captive in Israeli jails Iyad al-Jawhari freed after five years of detention

Quneitra, SANA – The Israeli occupation authorities released on Monday the Syrian captive Dr. Iyad al-Jawhari who is from Majdal Shams in the occupied Syrian Golan after 5 years of arbitrary detention.

Speaking to SANA’s reporter, al-Jawhari affirmed that resistance against the Israeli occupation is legal, legitimate, and patriotic, noting that the resistance of the occupied Golan’s locals complements the Syrian Arab Army’s heroics and sacrifices in its war against terrorism, reiterating that the occupied Golan is an integral part of Syrian sovereignty.

Al-Jawhari expressed confidence that victory against terrorism and its supporters is near and that the Golan will be liberated and restored to Syria.

On this occasion, the Committee for Supporting Liberated and Detained Syrian Captives in the Israeli Jails issued a statement congratulating al-Jawhari.

Head of the Committee, liberated captive Ali al-Younis, referred to the Israeli occupation’s arbitrary practices against the captives and detainees from the very beginning of their detention, clarifying that a number of the detainees suffered from cancer and died after a short period of their release like Hayel Abu Zaid and Sultan al-Wali.

In June 2012, the Israeli occupation authorities arrested al-Jawhari after his return to the occupied Golan from Syria through Quneitra’s crossing point, and he was sentenced for 6 years in Israeli jails and his wife was prevented from returning to Damascus.
