Geneva talks to start on February 23rd, de Mistura says

Geneva, SANA – Geneva talks about the crisis in Syria will be officially launched on February 23rd, Yara Sharif, Spokeswoman of UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura announced on Monday.

Sharif told the Associated Press that de Mistura started sending out formal invitations to the participants in the upcoming Geneva talks.

She added that an unspecified number of invitations has been sent out on Monday to confirm the participation of “the two concerned sides.”

Sharif noted that the delegations would arrive in Geneva on or about 20 February to enable prior consultations with the Special Envoy and his team before the formal start of intra-Syrian talks planned on 23 of February.
