Paris, SANA – Affirming the strong connections between Syrian youths inside and outside the homeland, and that Syria is the cradle of amity and peace, the Syrian community in France held an activity under the title “A handful of my homeland’s soil”.
Coordinator of the activity, expatriate Rima Khlaifawi told SANA that she wanted to participate in the International Conference on “Combating Terrorism and Religious Extremism”, recently held in Damascus, and before she traveled to Syria she asked her friends what they want her to bring from the homeland, and all of them said “we don’t want anything, but a handful of Syria’s soil.”
The activity included planting an olive sapling by members of the Syrian community in France and a number of French people, who expressed support to Syria in restoring security and peace.
The soil, in which the sapling was planted, was collected by members of Syria’s Youth Imprint Foundation from the land of Damascus with the aim of holding this activity.
The sapling will be later moved to one of the public squares in France in coordination with French non-governmental organizations.
