Lavrov to Kerry: need for separating between “moderate opposition” and terrorist groups

Moscow, SANA-Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov called on Washington to carry out its obligations and separate between what its names as “moderate opposition groups” and terrorist organizations in Syria.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement Monday that Lavrov, in a telephone call with his US counterpart John Kerry, agreed that experts from Russia and the US will continue discussing means to “normalize the situation in Aleppo.”

“Lavrov said that the armed groups which control Aleppo eastern neighborhoods have responded to the Syrian authorities’ announcement of a humanitarian pause by shooting fire on local residents who tried to leave the area and launching new attacks on the Syrian army,” the Russian Foreign Ministry added.
