Russia’s Chief of General Staff in Turkey to discuss Syria, military cooperation

Moscow, SANA – The official representative of the Russian Defense Ministry, Major-General Igor Konashenkov said that the current situation in Syria and prospects of settlement will be the focus of today’s talks between the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Valery Gerasimov and his Turkish counterpart in Ankara.

In a press statement on Thursday,  Konashenkov added that prospects of Russian-Turkish military cooperation will also be discussed.

Last month, the Russian Foreign Ministry expressed deep concern over the situation on the Syrian-Turkish borders after several Turkish tanks and armored vehicles crossed the borders towards the Syrian city of Jarablos accompanied by terrorist groups under cover of the US-led alliance’s air forces.
