President al-Assad appoints new governor for Aleppo, issues decree amending departure fees

Damascus, SANA – President Bashar al-Assad issued on Wednesday a decree naming Hussein Ahmad Diab as Governor of Aleppo province, and ending the appointment of Mohammad Marwan Olabi as Aleppo Governor.

Hussein Ahmad Diab was born in 1964 in Ein Hoor in al-Zabadani area in Damascus Countryside. He graduated from the Military Academy in 1987 and occupied several posts in internal security forces. He is married with five daughters.

President Bashar al-Assad also issued legislative decree no. 24 for 2016 on amending articles of legislative decree no. 34 for 2009 which includes fees for departing from Syria via airports and border crossings.

The new amendments set the fees as follows: SYP 5,000 airport tax for every individual departing from Syria via a civilian airport, SYP 2,000 fee for every individual departing via a land or marine departure point, and SYP 10,000 for every personal Syrian car leaving via a land or marine departure point.
