Russia denies media claims that Russian helicopters were shot down in Syria

Moscow, SANA- The Russian Defense Ministry refuted on Tuesday claims made by media outlets that claimed Russian helicopters participating in the war against terrorism in Syria were shot down.

Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashinkov said in a statement that all Russian combat helicopters are still carrying out their planned missions in the efforts to eliminate terrorists in Syria.

He asserted that there are no casualties among the Russian military personnel in Hmeimeem Airport in Lattakia countryside.

Earlier, citing Stratfor, which is a geopolitical intelligence firm, some media outlets circulated claims about a Russian helicopter unit being destroyed in addition to 20 trucks in the T4 airport area in the eastern countryside of Homs province.
