Daraa, SANA –Daraa Governor Mohammad Khaled al-Hanous on Monday underlined the governorate’s unremitting efforts to provide good living conditions to people who were forced to leave their homes and moved to temporary housing centers.
During a meeting with Daraa Governor and representatives of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, Social Affairs Department and other charities in the province, UNHCR’s representative in Syria, Sajjad Malik, said that the UNHCR is studying the possibility of opening a new office in Daraa to monitor the progress of its business in there.
He stressed the organization’s continuous efforts to assess the citizens’ needs and provide all types of support to families who have begun returning to their towns and villages after being secured.
On the other hand, al-Hanous discussed with International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Head of delegation to Syria, Marianne Gasser, the situation of relief work and other joint projects in the province.
“The Governor called for increasing the governorate’s proportion of aid and relief material, highlighting the Committee’s key and active role despite unjust economic siege imposed on Syria, particularly establishing projects in order to overcome water shortage in the province.
In Turn, Gasser stressed the Committee’s determination to provide support to all spectrums of society who suffer under current circumstances.
