Damascus, SANA – The Tourism Ministry on Monday organized an activity titled “Ramadan lanterns” in Asaad Pasha Khan in Damascus’ Old City.
The activity, aimed at children of martyrs and children from displaced families, included artistic performances and arts and crafts.
Activity coordinator Wisam Shahhoud said that this endeavor seeks to help bring a little happiness to children during the month of Ramadan, drawing inspiration for the activities from the customs and traditions of Ramadan.
In turn, head of Damascus Tourism Department Mai al-Seleh said the event was held in Asaad Pasha Khan, which is a historical inn in the Old City, as part of a series of events organized in historical locations in order to introduce people to these landmarks and sites.
The children appreciated the Khan and the way leading to it through the historic souk of al-Bzouriya.
One of the children said “we like our history and ruins and we feel relaxed in this place,” expressing admiration of the arabesques on the doors of the Khan and the pool in the center of the courtyard.
