Higher Education Ministry delegation holds meetings in Moscow to discuss cooperation

Moscow, SANA – Higher Education Minister Mohammad Amer al-Mardini, who is currently heading a delegation visiting Moscow, said that a number of meetings were held with several Russian sides that resulted in important agreement that will help boost cooperation in the higher education sector.

Al-Mardini told SANA’s correspondent in Moscow that meetings were held with the Russian Ministry of Education and Science’s Deputy Minister and its international cooperation agency, as well as the Russkiy Mir (Russian World) Foundation, and the Russian Social Council.

He said the meetings tackled many issues related to grants, teaching the Russian language, and assorted higher education issues, in addition to discussing matters related to Syrian students in Russia.

The Minister added that the delegation also met representatives of Syrians expatriates and students in Russia at the Syrian Embassy in Moscow.

During his meeting with expatriates and students, al-Mardini said that direct efforts were exerted to protect the higher education sector in Syria from the effects of the current crisis in the country, and that victory over terrorism is close at hand.

In turn, the expatriates and students issues a statement congratulating Syria’s people, leadership, and army on occasion of Eid al-Fitr holiday, vowing commitment to confronting terrorism and rebuilding Syria.

The delegation’s visit seeks to expand and improve bilateral cooperation and plan for future ventures in the field of educational, cultural, and technical cooperation between the two countries.
