Hasaka, SANA – Hasaka governor Mohammad Za’al al-Ali discussed on Thursday with representatives of humanitarian organizations operating in Syria means to enhance cooperation to increase aid delivered to people in need.
The United Nations Resident Representative in Syria Yacoub El-Hillo, pointed out that the visit aims to increase support to affected families due to the current situation in Syria, stressing the UN keenness on Syria’s sovereignty.
For her part, UNICEF resident representative in Syria Hanaa Sinjer mentioned the importance of the governmental efforts in offering citizens’ needs, particularly in offering vaccines and education.
Matthew Hollingworth, the director of the World Food Program ( WFP) in Syria affirmed that the organization will discuss with related authorities increasing productivity of mills and bakeshops, adding that WFP is seeking to find out temporary work program for affected families to provide for themselves in addition to setting a plan for entering around 48,000 food baskets to Hasaka on monthly bases and distributing them to displaced and affected families.
In turn, Ahmad Tijani from World Health Organization (WHO) said that rehabilitating the National Hospital in Hasaka is a priority for WHO in the next period, adding that a technical team will come to reevaluate the hospital situation and supplying it with required medical equipment to invest the hospital in the best way.
Abdul al-Karim al-Goul, Deputy head of the mission of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Syria, clarified that UNHCR plan for the next stage is to build two comprehensive services centers in Hasaka and Qamishli cities in addition to supporting National Hospital in Qamishli.
The governor highlighted the governorate’s keenness on offering services to all citizens in all areas but the attacks of terrorist organizations is preventing services in the areas which are under their control , adding that water, health and electricity power sectors are the most important sectors that humanitarian organizations can help in supporting them.
Nearly 135,000 families in Hasaka are receiving aid from humanitarian organizations, out of 200,000 families that are in need for such support.
