An open day dubbed “Our Children Innovate” in Damascus

Damascus, SANA- Child Education Directorate at the Ministry of Culture, in cooperation with the United Nations Organization for Education, Science and Culture (UNESCO), on Monday organized an open day at Damascus-based Kafr Souseh Cultural Center under the title “Our Children Innovate”.

The works of the children and adolescents who are residing at the temporary housing centers in Damascus and its countryside were showcased in the event within the project of Life Skills and Psychological Support during 2015.

Participating children presented a variety of artistic performances in the framework of the open day.

Assistant Minister of Culture Tawfiq al-Imam said ..organizing the open day stresses that the Syrian children will continue to give and to innovate despite of the current difficult circumstances.

Al-Imam stressed that the Child Education Directorate supports talents and skills of the children staying at all the temporary housing centers across Syria through holding workshops in the domains of drawing, theatre, photography and others.

For her part, Head of the Child Education Directorate Malak Yasin said that the project of Life Skills and Psychological Support which started in 2012 in nine provinces is still providing support to the children and works on refining their skills and talents.

Yasin indicated that such activities enhance the self-confidence to the child and strengthen his/her personality to be able to interact with other children and to prove their presence.
