Part of Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant damaged by Ukrainian shelling

Moscow, SANA- The extent of destruction at the upper part of Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant is very serious by the Ukrainian shelling, head of the local administration Vladimir Leontyev said.

“Several strikes hit at two o’clock in the morning today, the upper part of the hydroelectric power station, where the valves are located, which led to its destruction. As for the dam itself, it was not destroyed, fortunately,” Leontyev added in a statement quoted by Novosti.

The official stated that the water level in the Kherson province towards the Dnieper River had risen as a result of the partial destruction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric station by 2.5 meters.
