Mikdad: western coercive measures hindered the State’s efforts to address repercussions of the earthquake

Damascus, SANA- Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Fayssal Mikdad, said that Iran was one of the first countries that shared the rescue and search operations following the earthquake that hit the country on February 6th, and from Iran, the first aid plane has arrived in the country.

Mikdad, during a press conference held on Thursday with his Iranian counterpart, Hussein Amir Abdullahian, said that the stances of Syria and Iran towards international issues and latest developments in the region and the world were identical.

He added that the two countries condemn and reject the Judaizing turbine project in the occupied Syrian Golan and all crimes of the Israeli occupation against the Palestinians.

Mikdad went on to say that the western coercive illegal measures imposed on Syria have hindered the State’s efforts to address the repercussions of the earthquake.

Iranian Minister Abdollahian, for his part, said “we are satisfied over the positive development in the regional and international stances regarding Syria and the restoration of its important role in the region.”

“We condemn the Israeli recurrent attacks on Syrian territories that violate the UN charter,” Abdollahian said.

He called for respecting Syria’s territorial integrity and the withdrawal of the foreign forces which exist illegally on its lands.

Abdollahian also demanded the immediate removal of the unilateral coercive measures imposed on Syria and providing humanitarian aid to it away from any politicization.
