Homs, SANA- The National Cancer Screening Campaign, entitled as “ your awareness is your strength,” organized by National Cancer Control Program, was concluded on Tuesday in Homs province.
The campaign aimed to screen three types of tumors, namely breast, cervix, and prostate.
‘The campaign has provided more than 28,000 free services for men and women who benefited from free medical examinations conducted by hospitals, fixed and private health centers participating in the campaign, in addition to four mobile medical clinics that toured the countryside and towns of the province’, Director of Homs Health Department, Dr. Musallam al-Atassi told SANA.
Al-Atassi referred to the high turnout of citizens to benefit from the campaign’s services and to intensify efforts of health and technical cadres on the campaign’s last day, in order to reach the largest number of citizens.
He added that the examinations were carried out according to a unified diagnostic protocol to ensure accurate results which included mammograms and taking cervical smear and a prostate blood draw.
Al-Attasi stressed that suspected cases will be followed up to ensure that they receive appropriate treatment.
