Damascus, SANA-Syrian short documentary ‘Silk Journey’, directed by al-Muhannad Kulthum and produced by the National Film Organization, has won the most prestigious award for short documentaries at the International Film Festival of Cinema & Sea at in its 9th edition, held from 10-13 November in Mirleft, Morocco
The film tells a simple and transparent story which highlights the deeply-rooted Syrian civilization, being based on visual image to convey the cultural heritage to the whole world against attempts aiming at diluting the Syrian cultural identity.
Other countries (Morocco, Spain, Algeria, Egypt and Iraq) have also taken part in the contest.
Kulthum speaking to SANA reporter, stated that participation in festivals and international forums has a special taste that offers a room of hope for exchange of cultures and the ideas of others.
He notified that he has started working on his documentaries six years ago as independent series, expressing his joy of his film winning the award.
