Syrian-Indonesian talks on increasing commercial exchange

Jakarta, SANA- Syria and Indonesia agreed on activating the Memo of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Syria Chamber of Commerce and its Indonesian counterpart in 2018.

The two sides also discussed establishment of a joint businessmen council and studying means of putting the results of this meeting into action.

The meeting also touched upon the relations between the two countries in the commercial and economic fields and means of increasing trade exchange, particularly the palm oil, olive oil, wood processing, electrical and machinery equipment, engines, food, medical and paper products.

Acting Chargé d’Affairs in Jakarta, Minister Plenipotentiary Abdel Moneim Annan,  Economic Attaché at the Embassy, Mohamed Nahed Mahaeri and a number of Syrian businessmen registered in the Syrian Chambers of Commerce and a number of other Syrian businessmen participated in the meeting from Damascus via video,  while senior officials of Indonesian dministration of the Chamber of Commerce, a number of Indonesian businessmen and Indonesian ambassador in Damascus, Wajed Fawzy and other officials took part in the meeting which was held at the headquarters of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Jakarta.

Syrian acting Chargé d’Affairs stressed that Syria is recovering after defeating terrorism and it works on reviving the production wheel and economy and the rebuilding, which provides wide-range opportunities for the Indonesian productive and business sectors to enter the Syrian market and invest in it, as well as in the tourist and energy sectors.

The Indonesian side, in turn, expressed readiness to hold further discussions with the Syrian governmental side and the Syrian businessmen.
