Most roads in provinces re-opened Thursday except Damascus-Beirut highway

Damascus, SANA, Most roads in different provinces were re-opened after being unpassable Tuesday due to the weather conditions the country is facing.

Traffic department at interior ministry told SANA Thursday that Most of the roads in the governorates were re-opened, except Damascus- Beirut highway and a number of roads in al-Sweida province due to snow and ice.

Roads in Damascus countryside, Damascus Airport road and Damascus-Daraa highway are all passable.

In Homs, Hama, Lattakia, Tartous and Sweida provinces, all main roads and highways are passable except for some roads across mountains and deep zones because of snow-drifts.

All roads in Quneitra province are passable except for al-Quneitra-Damascus-al-Salam Highway and al-Quneitra-Jaba road which are hardly passable from ice and snow-drifts.

On Wednesday, all roads in Damascus and its Countryside were passable in general except Damascus-Homs highway and al-Salam-Sa’sa highway were not passable, while Damascus-Beirut highway was hardly passable due to snow-drifts.

The Traffic Department called upon drivers to use fog lights, check brakes and slow down to avoid accidents on crossroads, slopes and turns.
