Four studies on designing a location for Special Olympics selected

Damascus, SANA- Four studies on designing and qualifying a location for the “Special Olympics” establishment were selected among 9 others in a competition workshop concluded Tuesday.

The workshop was organized by the Faculty of Architectural Engineering at Damascus University in cooperation with “Massar Rose” project.

Supervisor of the workshop Oqba Fakoush said the workshop aimed to propose a specific study for designing and qualifying a location for the Special Olympics establishment in the southeastern side of “Massar Rose” building at the old fairgrounds of Damascus

Fakoush indicated that the 15-day workshop was a voluntary competition for students of the architectural engineering faculty.

He added that the proposed studies included new ideas on qualifying two stores at the location of the establishment to be used for special math, in addition to designing gardens, open playgrounds and some services and administration rooms taking into consideration the low cost of implementing proposed studies.

For his part, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Special Olympics in Syria Tarif Qutrash said that “23 students participated in the workshop and they proposed 9 studies of which four were selected.”

The Syrian Special Olympics establishment works on organizing competitions and sport training for people with intellectual disabilities to improve their life.
