Beijing, SANA- China congratulated Syria on electing President Bashar al-Assad as President of the Syrian Arab Republic.
Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zhao Lijian said in a press conference posted on the Ministry’s website that China congratulates President Bashar al-Assad on his re-election, adding that this year coincides with the 65th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Syria, which is distinguished by firm and long-term friendship.
He added that China stresses its firm support to Syria’s efforts in preserving its national sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.
