Areas planted with wheat in Hasaka remarkably increase due to abundant rainfall

Hasaka, SANA – More than 50% of the plan set for planting rain-fed wheat in the northeastern province of Hasaka has been implemented.

The implementation rate was helped by the heavy rains that have poured down in the province, according to Assistant Director of the Agriculture Directorate.

Ali al-Khalouf clarified in a statement to SANA that an area of 310,000 hectares was planted with wheat, while 206,000 hectares were planted with barley, estimating that rainfall amounts in some areas have already exceeded 50% of annual average.
