Syrian delegation participates in virtual Parliamentary Forum on sustainable development

Damascus, SANA-A delegation from the People’s Assembly participated in the Parliamentary Forum on the Sustainable Development Plan for the year 2030 in the Arab region and impact of Coronavirus on implementing the goals of sustainable development, organized by the UN economic Commission and Social Development for West Asia (ESCWA), in partnership with the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the UN Development Program, via a virtual session on Internet.

Members of the delegation pointed out to the unilateral coercive economic measures imposed on the Syrian people
and the so called “Caesar Act”, which prevent medicines and medical supplies from arriving in Syria, and this negatively affect sustainable development plans and combat epidemics, particularly Coronavirus.

They called on the parliaments of the world to stand by Syria through demanding to lift unilateral coercive measures that hinder the implementation of development goals and impede the confront to Coronavirus.
