Operations of harvesting cotton continue… 725 tons is marketed in Deir Ezzor province

Deir Ezzor, SANA –The process of harvesting and marketing cottons have continued for the current season as the marketed quantities amounted to 725 tons so far.

Director of Deir Ezzor Ginnery, Saleh al-Harmish, said in a statement that the ginning started on the 24th of September receiving cottons from the farmers’ fields and weighing them in the steelyard balance of ginnery then placing them in vehicles specified by the General Organization for Ginning and Marketing Cotton in order to be moved from Deir Ezzor to Hama’s ginnery at the expense of the establishment under the Certificate of Origin.

Head of Farmers’ Federation in Deir Ezzor, Khzan al-Sahow, affirmed the continuous process of harvesting cotton to be marketed under the supervision of the agricultural peasant associations that facilitate the marketing process.

 He added that cotton is considered as an important strategic crop which returned to the front of the agricultural process in Deir Ezzor as a result of the support of the government.

 Director of Deir Ezzor Agricultural Department, Mahmoud al-Hayeo, pointed out that the cultivated area with cotton in the province for the current season amounted to 12,200 hectares and the estimations of one hectare of cotton reached at about 3,250kg.
