Damascus, SANA – A Christmas bazaar has been held at al-Sharq Club in the city of Damascus to support locally-made products.
The bazaar, sponsored by a local company with the participation of a number of civil associations, is meant to form “a starting point” for women working in handicraft business, according to its organizer Nancy Ajlani.
Speaking to SANA, Ajlani said the bazaar, held on the occasion of Christmas and New Year, is a “miniature market” where participants are given room to showcase their handmade products and promote them.
Up to 100 participants, mostly women, took part in the five-day bazaar, with the displayed works including accessories, roses, clothes, leather bags and makeup products.
A division was allocated for children-related works, while another division, which was opened for the first time this season, showcased wedding and party clothes.
Ajlani pointed out that a group of young men and women will be joining the bazaar, where they will play popular cartoon characters and Santa Claus and distribute Christmas presents to children.
