CBS to adopt new package of procedures to meet citizen’s demands of foreign currency

Damascus, SANA- Governor of Central Bank of Syria Adeb Mayaleh said Thursday the bank will adopt a new package of procedures to open the door wide in front of the citizens to meet their demands of the foreign currency from the licensed money-change companies.

Mayaleh said at a session held to monitor the market of foreign currencies that the bank will punish manipulators who deal immorally with the citizens and publish illusive changing prices and negative news on mass media, aiming at shaking the citizen’s confidence in the Syrian pound.

He affirmed that the price of the Syrian pound against the US dollar gained new achievements during the last two days to drop to a rate between 198-200 SYP against the 1 dollar, comparing to 205-207 last week.

Mayaleh called on merchants and industrialists to go to the banks and licensed money-change companies to request their demands of the foreign currency instead of the parallel market.
