Sweida province expected to produce 70 thousand tons of vegetables and summer crops  

Sweida, SANA-  The areas cultivated with summer vegetables in Sweida for the current season have reached 11,320 dunums with an execution rate of 108 percent of their cultivation plan which was estimated at 10,440 dunums while last year those areas reached 10,670 dunums with a production estimated at 62, 454 tons.

Assistant Director of Sweida Agriculture Department, Eng. Alaa al-Shayeb told SANA Economic Bulletin, that the areas cultivated with summer vegetables in the province are considered good, and the production is expected to reach 70 thousand tons according to the initial estimations.

Eng. al-Shayeb added that the areas cultivated with some species of vegetables and summer crops such as cucumber and zucchini have started their production and some of them will start the production over the coming few days, indicating that most of these crops are irrigated through the wells in western areas.
