People’s Assembly extends decree on rescheduling overdue loans for economic projects

Damascus, SANA – The People’s Assembly on Wednesday approved a bill extending legislative decree no. 8 for 2014, which stipulates for rescheduling overdue loans for economic projects, for the duration of three months.

Finance Minister Ismael Ismael said that this bill was prompted by the large number of businessmen who submitted requests for rescheduling loans as per the decree and whose facilities were damaged and put out of commission partially or fully due to the crisis.

He explained that a total of 2,550 requests have been submitted, and the total value of the due loans is estimated at SYP 27 billion, with 1,400 requests have been processed with the rest pending study, and so the extension was made to allow the remaining requests to be processed.

The Assembly also passed a bill on unifying registration fees for privately-owned diesel-operated vehicles.
