Damascus, SANA – The Budget and Accounts Committee at the People’s Assembly discussed on Sunday the budget of the Economy and Foreign Trade Ministry for 2015 which is set at SYP 365 million.
The Committee members emphasized the need to protect the SYP exchange rate, reduce prices, support local industries, and ensure that subsidies are befitting the intended targets.
During the meeting, Economy and Foreign Trade Minister Humam al-Jazaeri reviewed the Ministry’s current projects, which include a new law for supporting investments and mechanisms for supporting medium and small companies.
He also said that another issue the Ministry is addressing is protecting local products from competing imported goods, stressing the need to rationalize foreign trade to help procure necessary goods, with priority given to the needs of the industrial and agricultural sector.
