Damascus, SANA- Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Fayssal Mikdad received on Wednesday the new UNDP Resident Representative in Syria Ramla Khalidi who presented her credentials to him.
Mikdad welcomed the new UNDP Representative in Syria , asserting the importance of fruitful cooperation between the Syrian government and UNDP which is considered one of the first UN programs that worked in Syria.
He stressed that UNDP has to focus on development issues and realize sustainable development in Syria , especially after the victories it has achieved in the war against terrorism and the restoration of security and stability to most of the Syrian territory, a step that would push the real development circle forwards.
Mikdad also underlined the importance of UNDP to take into account the principle of professionalism, neutrality, independence and keeping away from politicization in its work.
Khalidi, For her part, said the UNDP will continue cooperation with the Syrian government and all the sides concerned to push development process forwards.
