Budget bill referred to parliamentary Balance and Accounts Committee

Damascus, SANA – The People’s Assembly referred on Thursday the bill on the state’s general budget for the fiscal year 2015 to the Balance and Accounts Committee to examine it and prepare the required report before the bill is referred back to the Assembly for approval.

The budget has been set at SYP 1,554 billion, marking a SYP 164 billion increase over the 2014 budget.

According to the bill, SYP 1,144 billion will be allocated for current approbations, while SYP 410 billion for investment approbations.

Allocations for social subsidies have also been increased by SYP 368,5 billion, with the total amount estimated at SYP 983,5 billion.

The budget bill also provides for allocating SYP 50 billion for the construction and rehabilitation of public facilities and compensation for damages and losses caused to private facilities due to the current events taking place in the country.

MPs stressed in the course of discussions the need that the items of the bill be accurately and honestly implemented so as to further bolster the steadfastness of the Syrian people to face the current circumstances in the country.
