Lavrov reaffirms that Trump’s declaration on Syrian Golan is flagrant violation of UN Charter and International Law

Cairo, SANA – Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, reaffirmed that US President Donald Trump’s declaration on considering the occupied Syrian Golan as part of the Israeli occupation entity is a flagrant violation of the UN Charter and principles of the International Law.

In an interview with Egyptian al-Ahram Newspaper, Lavrov stressed that Moscow’s stance regarding the Syrian sovereignty over Golan is still firm, considering that the US declaration is reducing opportunity for achieving just and sustainable peace in the region.

Lavrov added that it is clear that Washington seeks to obliterate achievements of the international community and destroy the recognized international legal rule, upon which the search process for settling the situation in the region is adopted.

With regards to the Israeli assaults on the Syrian territories, Lavrov said that they are “unacceptable”, stressing need for respecting Syria’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.
