Damascus, SANA- Slouk “Behavior” Society for the care and rehabilitation of children with disabilities last Thursday organized a fashion show in Damascus for the children with disabilities with the participation of 26 children with autism and Down Syndrome.
The show aims at integrating those children into society and demonstrate their creative abilities.
Chairwoman of the Society Walaa al-Hassan underlined the importance of such activities that show the capabilities and skills of the disabled and integrate them into society and make them happy.
Al-Hassan said that the society provides different types of care for the people with disabilities through semi-free sessions to address the difficulties of pronunciation and learning, in addition to the disorder of autism and Down syndrome of different ages under the supervision of specialized cadres.
A number of the participating children’s relatives indicated that the show has contributed to changing the view towards the disabled children from compassion to admiration of their will and skills as they have defied their disability.
Mother of disabled child Fatima underlined the importance of the initiative in enhancing the children’s confidence and the support provided to them by society.
