Homs, SANA- A joint Syrian-Russian workshop on manufacturing smart artificial limbs was held at al-Bassel Stadium in the Faculty of Civil Engineering at al-Baath University in Homs on Tuesday.
The workshop was held in cooperation with al-Baath University and the Federal Government Center for Artificial Limbs in Moscow entitled: “Prospects for Cooperation in the Field of Smart Artificial Limbs.”
The workshop aims at exchanging expertise and benefitting from Russian specialists in the field of artificial limbs, according to Rector of al-Baath University Bassam Ibrahim.
He added that the University seeks to develop the Artificial Limbs Center at the University, which provides services to the war wounded.
For his part, Dr. Essam Milhem, head of the Syrian-Belarusian Center at Al-Baath University, said that the Center and the University have worked for a long time to organize this workshop which is concerned with humanitarian and service issues, pointing out the experience of the Russian side in the field of artificial limbs after World War II.
The Russian side said the Federal Government Center for the Artificial Limbs in Moscow is ready to provide the necessary expertise to al-Baath University in order to develop its artificial limbs center.
The Russian participants toured the center at the university and met a number of war casualties to take cases to Moscow.
