New York, SANA-Syria’s permanent representative to the UN, Dr. Bashar al-Jaafari said that Syria is determined to fight international terrorism on all its territories with its commitment to the political solution through Syrian-Syrian talks without any foreign intervention or preconditions.
Al-Jaafari added in a speech at a UNSC session on Wednesday that terrorists have come out of al-Rukban camp and al-Tanf base and attacked two cities in the south of Syria, so the Syrian Army has the right to defend the families there.
“We are astonished that some UNSC member states name the operations of the Syrian army against terrorism in the south as aggression when they call for protecting the group of the White Helmets affiliated to Jabhat al-Nusra,” al-Jaafari said.
He affirmed that the US, UK and France have sought to make the report of UN Secretary General about implementing resolution No.2139 as a political pressing tool on the Syrian government to carry out agendas of these states and interfere in the Syrian domestic affairs.
“The Syrian government cooperates with the UN and other international organizations working in Syria to deliver the humanitarian aid to the people in need,” al-Jaafari said.
He added “we condemn the report makers’ ignorance of the war crimes and crimes against humanity perpetrated by the US and its allies in al-Raqqa city and other regions under the pretext of combating terrorism.”
Al-Jaafari stressed that UN Secretary General Report has disregarded Israel’s crimes and its repeated aggressions on the Syrian lands including its support to the terrorist organizations in the disengagement zone, on top of which Daesh and Jabhat al-Nusra.
“The Turkish aggression on Afrin was the main reason behind the displacement and suffering of the families in the city and the Syrian government has offered aid and support to the affected people,” al-Jaafari said in response to the French envoy.
Responding to a brief submitted by the UN special envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura, al-Jaafari said de Mistura has forgotten that combating terrorism is priority in Syria, and some UN member states submitted in their statements distorted image on Syria.
