Ala: Since beginning of war on Syria, Israeli support to terrorists increased to prolong crisis

Geneva, SANA – Syria’s Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva, Ambassador Hussam Eddin Ala, said that since its occupation of the Syrian Golan in 1967, the Israeli occupation has not stopped violating international law and UN Security Council resolutions, nor has it stopped its attempts to impose the annexation of the Golan as a fait accompli in violation of international law.

In a statement at a Human Rights Council session to discuss Item 7 – Human rights situation in Palestine and other occupied Arab territories on Tuesday, Ala stressed that since the beginning of the war on Syria, the direct Israeli support to the terrorist organizations – which was documented by the UNDOF reports – has increased in the area of disengagement and its surroundings with the aim of prolonging the crisis and exploiting it to reinforce the occupation and impose the annexation of the occupied Golan as a fait accompli.

He said that the Israeli occupation is also pressuring the Syrians in the occupied Syrian Golan to force them to acknowledge the legitimacy of occupation, and what is reprehensible is that these Israeli violations of international law are supported by the US and other allies in the Council and outside it, who encourage it to maintain its occupation and violations of human rights of the people of the Golan.

Ala reiterated Syria’s affirmation that building settlements is illegal as are all attempts to legitimize it, calling on the Council to reject the attempts to change the demographic situation in the occupied Syrian Golan.

He said that Syria condemns all the restrictions and discriminatory practices of the Isralei occupation against the people of the occupied Syrian Golan, which including seizing their lands and resrouces to build illegal settlements, and arbitrary detainment of citizens for resisting the occupation and documenting its crimes.

The Ambassador went on to affirm that Syria condemns the Israeli crimes and violations in occupied Palestine, and that it also denounces the US administration’s decision to move its embassy to Al-Quds (Jerusalem).
