Lavrov: Moscow relies on the success of upcoming Astana talks

Sochi, SANA-Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov affirmed that Moscow pays special attention to resolve the crisis in Syria and it relies on the success of the new round of Astana talks.

Lavrov, following a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif, said “for understandable reasons, special attention was paid to Syria and assertion was laid to the establishment of de-escalation zones,” according to Sputnik.

He added that delegations from Russia, Iran, and Turkey with the attendance of experts from the US, Jordan and the UN will discuss in Astana on September 14th and 15th “the establishment of a de-escalation zone in Idleb. ”

Earlier, President Vladimir Putin discussed with Zarif the situation in the Middle East, particularly in Syria and Iraq.
