National anti-measles campaign for children under five launched

Damascus, SANA- Ministry of Health on Sunday launched a national anti-measles campaign in different provinces that will last till May 25th and it targets all children between 7 months and five years of age regardless of their previous vaccinations.

Ministry of Health announced that all the required measures have been taken to guarantee the success of the campaign and to reach 2,466 million children through 1078 health centers, 793 mobile teams and 6,723 health workers, in addition to 676 cars.

Minister of Health Nizar Yazaji said earlier in a statement that the vaccinations are safe and they are accredited by the World Health Organization “WHO”, adding that they are imported under very precise conditions and standards.

Yazaji called upon the families of the children who are under five to take them to the nearest health center or mobile team during the vaccination campaign to take the vaccination for free.

Director of Damascus Health Department Mohammad Ramez Orfali indicated that the campaign was launched at all the city centers whose number is 39 centers, in addition to 27 medical points and 25 mobile centers.

Dr. Orfali indicated that the goal of the campaign in Damascus is to reach about 268 thousand children regardless of their previous vaccinations, adding that the regular vaccinations will be also given to the children along with the anti-measles vaccination.
