SARC receives medical aid worth USD 3 billion from China

Damascus, SANA – The Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) received Tuesday urgent medical aid from the Chinese government worth 20 million Yuan (equal to over USD 3 million) earmarked for helping families inside Syria who have been affected by the crisis.

The aid includes medicine, first aid kits, bandages, thermometers, pressure monitors, and stethoscopes, in addition to syringes, medical gloves, and blood transfusion equipment.

Head of the SARC Abdul-Rahman al-Attar, upon signing the receipt for the shipment with China’s Ambassador in Syria Wang Kejian, said the aid will give added value to the health services provided by the Syrian government, adding that medical aid is being distributed to all areas indiscriminately, even in unsafe areas where armed groups exist.

He stressed that the work of the organization is not biased, with 38 persons of the SARC staff having been killed in while carrying out volunteer work, hailing the stances of the Chinese people and government in support of the Syrian people in the current circumstances.

For his part, Ambassador Kejian said the Chinese government is deeply concerned over the current situation and is exerting all efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Syrians affected by the crisis, both in the country and abroad.

He stressed that the only way to solve the crisis is a political one, lauding the efforts exerted by the SARC.

Earlier, the Chinese government provided humanitarian aid to the SARC consisting of 20,000 wool covers and 20,000 blankets.
