Damascus, SANA – Al-Wahda won the Republic Cup football title after defeating Al-Shorta 2-0 in the finals held at Tishreen Stadium in Damascus on Saturday.
With this win, Al-Wahda earned a spot in the next season of the AFC Cup championship. It also marks the fifth time that the team has won this title.
The match remained without any goals throughout the two halves of the match, which went into extra time, with the first goal coming in the second period of extra time when Al-Wahda’s Mohammad Hamadko followed up on a cross and scoring at the 109 minutes mark, and at the 120 minutes mark at the very end of the match, Usama Omari scored the second goal.
