Eurasian Economic Committee looks at establishing a free trade zone with Syria positively

Moscow, SANA – The Eurasian Economic Committee said it looks at establishing a free trade zone with Syria positively, adding that it plans for starting negotiations on constructing this zone after the political situation in Syria gets stable.

The Russian Novosti news agency quoted the Committee’s representative as saying that all members of the Eurasian Economic Union have expressed a positive stance on establishing such a zone with Syria.

The Eurasian Economic Union includes the countries of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. It was established in January, 2015 on the basis of the Customs Union of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia (now the Eurasian Customs Union).
