Syrian and Russian Coordination Bodies Meeting affirms continued work for return of all Syrian displaced and refugees

Damascus, SANA- The Joint Meeting of the Syrian and Russian Coordination Bodies started activities on Thursday at the Conferences Palace in Damascus in the framework of the 4th Meeting to follow up on the International Conference on the Return of Syrian Refugees and Displaced.

The meeting is being held with the participation of representatives of the United Nations, the International Committee of the Red Cross and other humanitarian organizations.

Engineer Hussein Makhlouf, Head of the Syrian Ministerial Coordination Body and Minister of Local Administration and Environment said “the two Syrian and Russian Coordination Bodies are seeking to return the largest number of Syrian refugees and displaced, and this goal is a priority for Syria.”

Minister Makhlouf added that the number of displaced people who have returned since the establishment of the Joint Body in 2018 has reached more than two and a half million.

Makhlouf said that the Turkish occupation continues to support terrorists and steal Syria’s wealth, and the so-called “safe zone” is aggression, while the American occupation is the first reason for the suffering of the Syrian people and depriving them of their resources.

“Syria will move forward with the process of combating terrorism and the occupation, and we will work to return every refugee and displaced person to the homeland, and we will continue the reconstruction process,” Makhlouf said.

In a speech via video, Head of the Russian Ministerial Coordination Body and Head of the National Defense Management Center, Colonel General Mikhail Mizintsev said that Russia will continue to provide comprehensive support to Syria in order to restore normal life, combat terrorism and confront Western sanctions.

Mizintsev said that the illegal Western sanctions imposed on Syria impede the return of the displaced and refugees and exacerbate the suffering of the Syrian people.

He added that that the United States and its allies reject to coordinate with Syria to deliver humanitarian aid to those who deserve it, as they use Rukban camp as a terrorist recruitment base.

Mizintsev said that the amnesty decree and the Syrian state’s measures to facilitate the return of displaced Syrians and refugees will lead to a significant increase in the number of returnees.

During the meeting, Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Dr. Fayssal Mikdad, said that Syria continues to work for the return of all displaced and refugees to their cities and villages.

Mikdad added that the money provided by the West during the so-called “Brussels Conference” goes to the terrorists who continue to target the Syrian people and infrastructure.

Mikdad said that the brutal West did not say a single word in condemnation of the recent Israeli aggression, which put a civilian facility, namely Damascus International Airport, out of service.

He affirmed that the so-called “safe zone” that Erdogan wants is for the settlement of the terrorists he trained, and we hope that all countries do not support his ambitions.
